Our Story: THE REASON

The DMC Foundation and its initiatives was founded in 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama. The organization was founded by Paris Nicole Carson, a transgender mother, SFX MUA, entrepreneur, and passionate individual of the LGBTQ+ community, in honor of her son, Dre'Vion Malik Carson. The DMC Foundation's origins stem from Carson's personal experience navigating challenges within the child welfare system while fighting to maintain custody of her son. Despite facing significant barriers and interference with her parental rights, Carson remained resolute in her commitment to protecting the integrity of LGBTQIA+ families like her own. This deeply personal journey fueled Carson's vision to create this nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting justice, family preservation, and upholding the best interest's children in today's society.

Mission

The DMC Foundation is dedicated to protecting the rights, dignity, and integrity of LGBTQIA+ families involved in the child welfare system. Through impactful legal advocacy, policy reforms, and community empowerment, the foundation fights against the unlawful separation of LGBT+ parents from their children due to discriminatory custody battles and biases within family court proceedings. The foundation's mission is rooted in the core belief that all parents, regardless of gender identity or expression, deserve equal access to family courts and the fundamental right to raise their children in loving, stable homes. By challenging systemic issues, elevating precedent-setting legal victories, and equipping affected communities with resources and support, the DMC Foundation works tirelessly to ensure LGBTQIA+ individuals can exercise their parental rights with dignity and without fear of unjust outcomes.
